SHORT BIOGRAPHY
The relationship we weave with the territory in which we live is the point of interest of photographer Alfio Tommasini. Born and raised in Vallemaggia (Switzerland), he lived several years abroad (Great Britain, Central America and Spain) before returning to live in the places of his roots, drawn by his affection for the mountains.
He is curator and art director of Verzasca Foto Festival* which he co-founded in 2013.
As a curator he has collaborated with different cultural realities primarily from Latin America and is currently guest curator of RAK Arts festival (UAE).
He has exhibited his personal projects internationally and received awards such as first prize at the Encontros da Imagen international festival, first prize at the Phodar Biennal, the bronze medal at the Sony World Photography Awards.
His images have been published in magazines and newspapers such as The Guardian, British Journal of Photography, Le Temps Magazine, The North Face Mountain, Jiazazhi Press China, Burn Mag.
His latest book is Via Lactea (journey into mountain agriculture) published by Edition Patrick Frey.
*Verzasca Foto Festival
The festival aims to promote emerging international photographers and to support visual arts in rural and peripheral areas, by giving free space through connection and dialogues with nature, offering access to different forms of expression and ways of visual storytelling.
The festival takes place in the mountains of the Verzasca Valley, Switzerland.

BREVE BIOGRAFIA
La relazione che intrecciamo con il territorio in cui viviamo è il punto d’interesse del fotografo Alfio Tommasini. Nato e cresciuto in Vallemaggia, ha vissuto diversi anni all’estero (Gran Bretagna, America centrale e Spagna) per poi tornare a vivere nei luoghi delle sue radici, richiamato dall'affezione per le montagne.
È curatore e direttore artistico di Verzasca Foto Festival* che ha co-fondato nel 2013.
Come curatore ha collaborato con diverse realtà culturali soprattutto dell'America Latina e attualmente è curatore ospite del RAK Arts festival (EAU).
Ha esposto i suoi progetti personali a livello internazionale e ha ricevuto riconoscimenti quali il primo premio al festival internazionale Encontros da Imagen, il primo premio Phodar Biennal, la medaglia di bronzo al Sony World Photography Awards.
Le sue immagini sono state pubblicate su riviste e giornali quali The Guardian, British Journal of Photography, Le Temps Magazine, The North Face Mountain, Jiazazhi Press China, Burn Mag.
Il suo ultimo libro è Via Lactea (viaggio nell’agricoltura di montagna) pubblicato da Edition Patrick Frey.

Il festival si svolge tra le montagne della Valle Verzasca, in Svizzera.
